Short open-entry courses Short open-entry courses

UCH offers a range of short courses that are open entry. This means you don’t usually require specific qualifications or experience to apply and some carry HE credits which allow you to gain qualifications which count towards further qualifications should you wish to progress to a foundation or undergraduate degree.

Open entry courses provide an excellent opportunity to learn in a relaxed, supportive and relatively informal environment, typically involving 24 hours of study with a variety of patterns of attendance. They are an ideal introduction to university-level study for those who have not been involved in academic work before or who lack the time to undertake a more intensive programme.

Courses have included the following subject areas:

  • Archaeology
  • Art history
  • Creative writing
  • History
  • Literature
  • Media.

At present the following Short Courses are being offered at University Centre Hastings: these are run by the Centre for Community Engagement  (University of Sussex).

Course fees range from £75 to £150 (full) or £30 to £60 (concessions).
