Enterprise Workshops

A specialist programme of enterprise workshops designed to assist you in your professional development by building knowledge and the application of commercial principles, without hampering creative ability. The enterprise skills workshops will offer practical guidance from specialist advisers and industry experts. These will run regularly on the last Thursday of every month from 2pm to 4pm at the centre.

Enterprise Workshops 2010

These workshops have been designed to provide local digital media companies and freelance specialists with techniques and tools that will assist them in being innovative and enterprising.  All workshops are held on the last Thursday of the month between 2pm and 4pm.   

Crunching Numbers the Easy Way (Tues 17 August 2010 10am-12pm)

Do you dread cash flow forecasts, balance sheets, pricing, profit and loss?

This workshop will enable you to discover the fundamentals of business finance and what steps you can take in order to manage your finances more effectively. This session will cover various aspects including cash flow forecasts, balance sheets, pricing and profit and loss.
Delivered by Gary Neal, Managing Director of Leo 7 Limited.  Gary is an experienced and successful facilitator in finance and management development at all levels. More importantly, Gary manages to turn a dry subject into something understandable and maybe even interesting and fun.

Enterprise Workshop - Demystifying Self-Employment

Do the legal requirements of running your own business put you off? 

Are you a freelancer and find all the rules and regulations confusing?

This extended workshop will help you understand and review the legal requirements of running your creative practice.  Relevant to anyone who is considering the different legal statuses of businesses, the importance of written contracts, the rules and regulations surrounding tax & National Insurance obligations.  This workshop will also include information on the self-assessment process, payment cycles and deadlines. 

The session will begin with a talk by Kevin Davidson of the HM Revenue & Customs.  After this, Dean Marsh of Creative Law and Kevin Davidson will be offering one to one ‘surgeries' to answer your individual queries.

Entrepreneur Q&A session (28 October 2010)

This workshop comprises a Question and Answer session with a successful entrepreneur operating in the creative industries.  

Creating and Analysing Your Ideas (25 November 2010)

This workshop will provide delegates with techniques to generate ideas for new creative enterprises and new projects within existing enterprises.  The delegates will also learn how to use certain techniques to analyse their ideas.    

Making Your Ideas Happen (9 December 2010) * Exception due to Christmas holidays

This workshop will equip delegates with the necessary tools to develop an action-oriented business plan which will enable them to map out their ideas and projects into viable creative enterprises.
