Graduate success UCH welcomed its first students in September 2003.
The first UCH students graduated at a ceremony held in July 2006.
In 2007 nearly 40 students graduated, and UCH held a party and celebration after the ceremony for the students, their families and friends, featuring a jazz band and pink champagne.
In 2008 we had 75 graduates. In 2009 over 100 students received graduate awards and we held the celebration on July 21 at Azur in St Leonards, as there wasn't room in UCH for everyone to fit in! The University of Brighton Vice-Chancellor Professor Julian Crampton, The Lady Mayor of Hastings, and Bill Shelford, High Sheriff for East Sussex all attended the event. The graduating students also attended the official university graduation ceremony in Brighton.
Our graduates have gone on to work in a variety of industries both locally and nationally. Despite a challenging economic situation, many of our most recent UCH graduates quickly secured jobs or are moving on to further study. Carl Payne and Ransome Mpini both graduated with first class degrees in 2009 and have gone on to work for Merrill Lynch and the BBC respectively. Other graduates, Jodie Taylor and Wendy Philcox, gained local jobs at the Hastings Trust and at UCH. Last year, we also saw the first group of graduates from our Broadcast Media Honours degree and many have gone straight into employment. Amongst those graduating from the course were Basia Lalik who gained a full-time position at Envy Post Production House, Joanna Piri who recently became a floor runner for both EastEnders and Holby City, and Pat Moore joined the UCH team as a Media Technician.
