Are you interested in producing radio programmes? This practical and vocational course will provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills for working in the radio production and broadcast sector.
You will gain a working knowledge practical experience in sound recording, audio editing, post production, live broadcasting, presenting, producing, planning, scriptwriting and research.
There will be the opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into areas such as radio drama and fiction-based production, radio features production, pre-recorded and live studio productions as well as outside broadcast coverage of live events.
Within these areas, you will gain experience in all aspects of the preproduction, production and postproduction processes, and will be able to try your hand at all the different roles before specialising in your preferred role in the final year project.
The course is delivered through lectures, hands on workshops, seminars and industry professional master classes, and is assessed through practical and written coursework.
All modules contain a large element of practical, hands on experience using high-end media equipment. The course is equipped with a professional audio broadcasting suite, which houses the University of Brighton student radio station, as well as a Pro Tools audio editing suite, and portable solid-state audio recorders.
You will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with, media professionals. A number of experienced broadcast media professionals contribute to the course. They work as producers, directors, scriptwriters, directors of photography, presenters and editors in radio, film and television.

The practical focus of this foundation degree means that you will be equipped with the skills that organisations operating within radio and audio production require. There will also be opportunites to gain work experience through our commercial production unit.
